Congratulations to all the photographers honored this year!

Connie Bransilver

The Museum of Florida Art and Culture at South Florida Community College is underwriting an exhibition of Connie's work from Dec 6 - Jan 19, 2007, from her book Wild Love Affair: Essence of Florida's Native Orchids.

Connie's work also appears in Episode 205 of National Geographic's Wild Chronicles, featuring the discovery of, and subsequent research on, a new species of Sifaka lemur deep in the eastern rainforest of Madagascar.

Ian Adams

Ian's book, The Art of Garden Photography (Timber Press), won two Gold Awards, for Best Photography and Best Book, in the 2006 Garden Writers Association Media Awards in August.

Charles Sleicher

This image won "Highly Honored" in the prestigious Nature's Best Photography International Award for 2006.

Inger Hogstrom

This past summer, one of Inger's images from Burma won third place in the photography contest held by the Book Passage Travel Writers and Photographers conference in California.

Natalie Fobes

Natalie was a finalist for the Alicia Patterson Fellowship this year. As a former fellow, consideration for a second grant is a unique honor.

Her on-going documentary project is on China's one-child policy and how it affects people in that country as well as the United States. It is a story close to her heart as both of her children were born in China.

In April, she gave a major presentation, The Elements of the Photo Story, at the WPPI conference, and in November she will be on a Microsoft sponsored panel at PhotoPlus Expo. The topic will be how photography can affect social change.

Downs Matthews

The Austrian salon, World of Images, has awarded Solar Bear (the image in the introduction to this article) a gold medal and Sea Bear (shown here) a silver medal.

Howie Garber

This beautiful photo was featured on the cover of the NANPA book in January.

Nik Wheeler

Nik's last book, Island Dreams--Caribbean, published Fall 2005, just won the 2006 Lowell Thomas Gold Award in the Travel Book category.

Alison Wright

Alison won a Lowell Thomas award for an article in Yoga Journal. The image shown here is from her coverage of hurricane Katrina.

Bernard P. Friel

Bernie's Maasai Group image was selected for "The Only Human" exhibit of the New Montgomery Gallery of San Francisco.

This image of a female cardinal was selected for the National Geographic Traveler-Photo District News World in Focus Contest. The photo will appear in the World in Focus Print Gallery at Photoplus Expo. It will also be featured on the World in Focus Contest website and in the Photo District News Feb. 2007 "50 States" Issue.

Joanne Wells

This image was used by Nature's Best Magazine in the 2005-2006 winter issue for their 10-Year Anniversary Collection, 100 Best of the Best.

Jason Lauré

The book "South Africa", by Ettagale Blauer and Jason Lauré, published by Children's Press, June 2006, has been garnering very positive reviews.

Todd Gustafson

Todd won Runner-up in the Shell Wildlife Photographer of the Year--Animal Behaviour: Birds category. The Shell Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition is owned by the Natural History Museum and BBC Wildlife Magazine, and is sponsored by Shell.

Dee Ann Pederson

Dee Ann won "Highly Honored" in the Animal Antics category of Nature's Best Photography for 2006.
