Last year at this time I attended the 8th World
Wilderness Congress up in Anchorage, Alaska. I had
many of my photographers attending as part of a new
group of conservation photographers being organized.
From this meeting the ILCP was formed:
The International League of Conservation
Photographers, developed under the capable
leadership of Christina Mittemeier.
As many of you
know, I’ve made a concerted effort to bring
worldwide nature photographers as well as travel and
cultural specialists to my team of professionals.
I feel it’s important to have material on my site
documenting the many faces of our changing
world--including ecosystems and habitats and the
flora, fauna and indigenous cultures that live
within these habitats.
This is extremely important
for my educational and editorial clients striving to
illustrate the many changes going on around our
planet. These photographers are out there
photographing the many seasons of change, both good
and bad. Without their important work, publishers
would have nothing to show our next generation about
the importance of conservation and preservation of
our natural world.
"Understanding the complexity of nature is vital for our own survival on this planet. Photography is a universal language that can help us explain the importance of conserving the miraculous diversity of life to every citizen on Earth."
Cristina Mittermeier, Executive Director
