Sometimes when you are searching on our site, it might seem that your keywords are returning fewer results than you would expect. We often review what our clients are searching for and have noticed some reoccurring issues that can cause poor results. Here are some tips to improve your search results.

Correct Spelling
You can check the spellings of almost anything on dictionary and encyclopedia sites. Searching in Google can often help you work out the correct spellings of words as well.

Alternate Spellings
Some words have different spellings in different cultures. For example, the American word "color" is spelled "colour" in Britain. We have included most spelling variations in our hierarchy, but if keywords are not returning the results you expect, try an alternate spelling.

Don't Use Phrases
Clients will almost always see poor results when they enter a phrase into the keyword search. For example, "Indian Child in Village" will not work well when searching. Instead begin with single word searches like "India" and "Child" and use the Search Within Results option to narrow down your results.

Plurals Not Needed
You do not need to enter the plural for keywords in your searches. Our search engine will locate all of the "s" "es" "ed" "er" and "ing" variations of your root word automatically.

Nobody There
If you do not want people in your images, try including "nobody" or "not people" when narrowing down your results

If you cannot find photographs of a specific area, please call or write us an email. We have resources in-house and worldwide that can quickly locate images if coverage is available and we never charge for the service.
