We have the fortune to have a true wine and gastronomy expert as one of our new contributing photographers! Per Karlsson, though a Swede, has been living and working in France for many years. He has studied the viticulture of the vines throughout Europe, France in particular, and has photographed its many faces.

From extraordinary chateau landscapes to cellar details, Per has spent a lot of time in and around all things wine related, including food! He and his wife Britt operate gourmet wine and gastronomy tours throughout France, so you can imagine the kinds of photos we now have on our site covering those subjects!

We’re pleased to introduce you to one of our new photographers, Pete Oxford. Pete and his wife, Renee Bish have been traveling and photographing the world for over 25 years. I met him at the 8th World Congress up in Anchorage a year or so ago, where he was one of the Founding Photographers in the International League of Conservation Photographers.

We ended up sitting next to each other at a dinner table full of colleagues and before too long we both knew we had a win-win situation at hand! He’d been shooting the various parts of the world that I was very familiar with already (adventure travel destinations in particular) and he’d even worked with Society Expeditions where I had worked in the early 80’s researching and writing brochures!

He calls himself a naturalist, a biologist, a traveler, a lover of people. All of this is evident in his work. Pete’s images have depth and breadth in that he not only photographs the indigenous wildlife and their behavior but also the people and their traditional culture. It’s obvious that he has a way of winning the trust of the local people (and wildlife!) in that they let him into their world, where he documents their daily lifestyle when he can. There is no question that those of you in need of this kind of coverage will be thrilled to work with it!
